DIY brides is it really cheaper?

Image
So I had this idea right, so I said let me do it myself. When I when looking for the iteams I needed I might as well been paying for someone else to provide that specific decorum. Here's the catch not everything can be done DIY and still be cost effective which is the entire point.  The good thing though is that 99 percent of DIY projects don't cost very much especially if you know where to get the stuff you need.  Tip: try eBay.   Because I'm doing my own bouquet as well as the bridesmaids bouquets and the men boutoneers I needed tons of silk flowers. This is nothing new but I literally ordered dozens of silk flowers for dollars.  1.20 - 3.00 ITS CRAZYYY and it may just work for you as well. Tip: buy online and in bulk.   Mason jars are all the rave. For 2015 this is like number 1 one the DIY list. They are extremely versatile with an unlimited amount of creative uses.  However, they are quite pricey especially if you'll b...

The floating veil

Image
Why are veils so expensive??  I mean I guess I can see where the cost comes from for the really long veils with crystals  sewn on but really for the average veil to be 200 dollars that's obsurd in my opinion. I haven't seen a veil worth that much yet.   The ones at David's Bridal look ordinary, don't include any valuables precious jewls, and arn't made of gold or silver. So why all the fuss?  True you can find veils online or maybe at a discounted price when there's a good sale going on but how about a free veil! Thanks to a loving sister both my best friend and I will be using one very pretty veil on our wedding day. This is why it's a floating  veil. It goes from house to house and will have made 3 woman very happy. Now if I had to I would go searching for a super awesome veil but when you have such awesome people in your life you get  blessings along the way.  Ladies, don't be ashamed or to proud to take a "hand me down" iteam. If anything y...

Pre-wedding jitters aka the countdown

Image
So the countdown of four months begins....the journey of the great beyond!  Lol does anyone remember that land before time movie? Anyway, it seems like time is flying and there's adventure at every turn.  Planning is so fun for me, not so much for him. I'm using every waking moment I can to make sure my wedding is perfect and elegant. Picture this- A romantic 50s theme with pastel colors, lights, candles and pretty balloons; these ideas fill my mind swirling like pinwheels. I dream about the absolutely amazing decorations, flower arrangements and unique center pieces that will so daintily set the tone for the evening.  Yay I'm so ready. But not really because there's still so much to do. The more I plan it seems like I'm not getting very far. I hope things come together when all is said and done.  The check list may be super but I have accomplished some major things. Always look at and be grateful for the things already achieved. That way, even if there's other ...

To blog or not to blog( full time) that is the question

So you work a full time job but you love blogging and would like to monetize (make money off of ) your thoughts.  Here's some food for thought before you get started.    First identify if you want Blogging to eventually become your main source of income or a part time job on the side.   If you chose to be a full time blogger,  You'll definitely still need your job. Blogging could take months or years to develop depending on how much effort you put into it and what resources you have guiding and helping you along the way.  Q - How will you find the time to blog professionally until blogging is the main source of income ? A - well this is the mother of all questions. You must do your research, develop your webpage or blog, come up with content, gain traffic,  produce that content on a consistent basis, and at times get interactive with your subscribers with giveaways and the like.  1)GET A PLANNER. Have a notebook or something dedicated to your...

Bridesmaidzilla

I didn't know there was a such a thing as having bridesmaidZILLAS... Or persons who are just as dramatic as the brides themselfs. Ladies if your bridal party brings you to tears something is horribly wrong. The ladies you choose to be apart of your special day are suppose to be a support and comfort to you. Not a source of stress and cause of much irritation.  If there are problems and misunderstandings yes they can be fixed but everyone must understand that all final decisions belong to the BRIDE and GROOM. Nothing else matters Saying yes to the dress The bride will ask her girls how she looks and it's our job as either maid of honor or a brides maid to tell her the honest truth. However, we are not there to pick out what dress we'd wear to our wedding because news flash, It's not our wedding at all.  Knowing the line between being helpful and awful is often overstepped. It's not completely our fault though. Speaking from the point of being a Maid o...

#keepcalm Don't have a wedding meltdown.

I JUST WANT TO SCREAM!!!! No I'm not screaming in anger or frustration but in sheer excitement.  I really love looking at all the Pinterest ideals and going to bridal shops daydreaming about all the marvelous possibilities.  In fact this is how is should be. Planning a wedding shouldn't be stressful however it inevitably is because of several factors.  Want a stress-LESS wedding? Here's some tips.  Disclaimer: it's not going to be stress free but you may not have to run out of the room in tears every day and wanting to kill your friends/family in the process.  1.) don't have so many people involved in the planning.  This is easier said than done. What about his parents? What about your own parents?  Your great aunt Susie and he cat probably wants to have a say in what goes on too.  The saying too may chiefs and not enough Indians comes into play.  When 20 people are giving you suggestions and advise on how the wedding should be done will stre...
